Garden Benches
When we moved to the property in 2014 we inherited 4 cast iron chairs, 2x two seaters and 2x one seaters. Over a period of a few years I gradually replaced these to make 4x two seaters using the bench restoration kits provided by ARBC. You can see a selection of their bench kits here - https://arbc.co.uk/product-category/bench-kits/
Another planter
Started work on another planter to flank the new bench I was about to build
I decided to build a large bench at the bottom of the garden. This part of the garden gets the last of the sun at the end of the day in the summer, and is a perfect place to relax at the end of the day with waterfall on and beer in hand.
The planter was built to match the other planter I made while doing my crazy paving project. I used the previous guttering moulds to create cement capping stones.
Once filled with compost I planted some roses.
Building the Bench
I used an existing bench in my garden as a reference in this design
The timber for this project was sourced from B&Q and wasn't too expensive to build. A lot cheaper than buying a bench and you get the added benefit of making it bespoke for your space.
I added in a central support as the bench spans over 2 metres and can comfortably sit 4 people.
It was a couple of year later till I finally got round to adding a roof to this bench.
Job Done
Garden benches
Restoring old cast iron benches was rewarding as I enjoy being able to restore and reuse what I have over buying in new things.
